He was born in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, whence when an infant he was brought to Bradford township, Clearfield County.
He and his wife began their domestic life on a timber tract of 105 acres, which he purchased, and from the same developed an excellent farm.
He was a Democrat in politics.
