General Notes: Husband - Jacob S. Young
He was born in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, and was reared on the homestead farm in Butler County. In 1883 he engaged in general merchandising at Brownsdale, which he continued for nearly three years, and was postmaster at that point during this period. He afterwards carried on a store for three years at Dutchtown. Beginning in 1883 he became an oil producer, and was quite successful in that line of business. In 1890 he purchased a residence in Butler. He embarked in the merchant tailoring business January 10, 1894, as a member of the firm of Young & Cooper, which was dissolved January 1, 1895, Mr. Young retiring. He then established a store of J. S. & J. P. Young, on the corner of Main and Jefferson streets.
