General Notes: Husband - Hamilton Beatty

He was born in Adams County, Pennsylvania, and went with his father to Washington County in 1809. In the spring of 1810 his father purchased a farm of three hundred acres in Unity township, Westmoreland County, known as the "Sportsman farm." He immediately moved on it and built the first bank barn in the township the following year. Hamilton and his brother John purchased this farm of their father in 1824, and at their death this property passed into the hands of John Beatty, Jr.

He served with honor in the War of 1812, and aided in building Fort Meigs. Politically he was a Democrat, and served his town in various local offices. His church affiliations were with the Unity Presbyterian church, of which he was one of the most consistent members, and filled the office of elder for a period of fifty-six years.
He and his wife had seven children, three of whom died in infancy.
