General Notes: Husband - Isaac Shaffer

In 1835 he and his wife made their home in the woods in Beaver township, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, their journey, which occupied nine days, being made with one single and two double teams. They purchased eighty acres of land at $1.50 per acre, paying only a portion of the price down. In his younger days he had followed the weaver's trade, but this was given up, as his agricultural operations became more extensive and profitable. He was a Democrat in politics, and a devout member of the Lutheran Church. He died at the age of sixty-nine years and three months the remains of both were laid to rest in the Lutheran cemetery in Beaver township.
