General Notes: Husband - Absalom K. Townsend

He attended the old subscription school in the district where he was born. In addition to the educational training he obtained in this primitive school, he secured information upon varied subjects by reading, and kept himself well informed upon all the leading topics of interest of his time. He became the owner of 400 acres of choice farm land, which he operated profitably. A Jacksonian Democrat, he was a great admirer of Andrew Jackson. Elder's Ridge Presbyterian Church held his membership, and received his generous support of both time and money.

He had his wife had ten children; eight were still living in 1914.
