General Notes: Husband - George Haggertie
He came to North America in 1827 and settled for about two years in Canada, where he was engaged on canals. In 1829 he and his wife came to Mercer County, PA, where he was, for a while, engaged in working on the canal. He had only $1.50 when he arrived in Mercer County. He bought land in New Vernon Township in 1835, where he farmed until he died.
He and his wife were members of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
