General Notes: Husband - Peter Schenck
He received a common school education. He afterwards entered a draughting school in Allegheny City, Pennsylvania, where he also learned the carpenter's trade, at which he worked five years and then returned to Butler. He became an architect, and a contractor and builder, and in connection with the firm of Schenck Brothers, built two churches at Harrisville, and one at Grove City; also the Diamond block, the Huselton and Anderson blocks, the Troutman and Armory buildings, in Butler, and St. Fidelis' College at Herman station. He was one of the incorporators of the Citizens Natural Gas Company, and was later president of the same. Politically, he was a Republican, and was a member of the town council and treasurer of the borough during the three years in which the paving and sewerage improvements were carried out, and took a very active part in these improvements. Mr. Schenck and his family were connected with the Presbyterian church.
