General Notes: Husband - Harvey S. Gibson
He was reared on a farm, received a common school education, and learned the carpenter's trade. In 1869 he went to Petroleum Centre, where he engaged in rig building, which he followed through the extension of the oil fields down to Parker, where he commenced as an operator. He continued in the oil industry in connection with contracting through 1895, removing to Butler in 1880, where he had purchased a property in 1873. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, and was a trustee in the Butler congregation. In politics, he was independent; he served in the borough council, and was president of the board of health. He was a member of Camp Number 14, W. of W.
