General Notes: Husband - James Stewart


In 1815 he came with his parents to Lawrence County, Pennsylvania.
He was a farmer all his life. He took much interest in education and promoting the welfare of the community where he lived. He held most of the various township offices; he served as school director several terms and was several terms justice of the peace, using his influence among persons making complaints to have their difficulties compromised where possible.

In politics, he was a Whig in the early days, and later followed the Republican standard. He was a member of the Reformed Presbyterian Church.
