General Notes: Husband - Edward James Allison
He was the only child of his parents, and spent his life in Beaver County, Pennsylvania. Early in life he clerked in a store. In 1883 he became a clerk in the First National Bank, of Rochester, and after 1886 was assistant cashier; he resigned his position in the First National Bank of Rochester, Pennsylvania, to accept the cashiership of the First National Bank of Beaver, Pennsylvania. In politics he was a Republican. He was a member of the Presbyterian church, at Beaver, and a trustee.
He obtained his education in the public schools of Beaver, Pennsylvania, and also attended the Beaver Academy. As a young man he entered the mercantile business with his father at Beaver, leaving this employ to accept a position as assistant cashier of the First National Bank of Rochester, Pennsylvania. He held his office until 1888, when at the organization of the First National Bank of Beaver, Pennsylvania, he became its cashier, continuing as such until his death. Active and energetic, as an organizer he was unequalled in the region, and several financial institutions owe their present firm standing to his capable founding, among these being the National Bank of Midland, Pennsylvania, of which, at its formation, he was made president. He was also interested in the Beaver Sand Company, as well as owning considerable real estate throughout the county. When the Presbyterian Church of Beaver was planned, he was made treasurer of the building fund and was for thirty years a member of the board of trustees. His fraternal affiliation was with Saint James Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons. The Republican party received his hearty support, although he never held public office.
