General Notes: Husband - Leroy E. Sibel
He attended the public schools of Ligonier, Pennsylvania, and also Duff's Business College, Pittsburgh, from which institution he graduated. Until his fifteenth year he assisted his father on the farm, the family then moving to Ligonier, after which the son was for eight years the father's assistant in the livery business. He then took and completed a course in the School of Anatomy, Pittsburgh, of which he was also a graduate. On December 4, 1912, he was licensed by the Pennsylvania State Board to conduct undertaking and embalming processes and the same year established himself in the furniture and undertaking business in Ligonier. He carried a large and attractive stock and had complete motor equipment, being the first to introduce that equipment into Ligonier. At one time he had the only motor ambulance in the Ligonier Valley.
Like his father Mr. Sibel was a Democrat, but was never active in politics. He was past master and steward of Ligonier Lodge, No. 331, Free and Accepted Masons, and also affiliated with Ligonier Lodge, No. 964, Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He belonged to the Woodmen of the World, Ligonier, and was enrolled in the George S. Kemble Club, also of Ligonier, an organization composed of Masons only. He belonged to the Funeral Directors' Association of Pennsylvania. His religious membership was in the Methodist Episcopal church of Ligonier, and he was the instructor of a class in the Bible school.
