He was encouraged by his parents to become interested in electricity at a very early age. It was only natural for him to get a degree in Electrical engineering from the University of Minnesota in 1930. After 3 years with Bell System he did a years work towards a Masters Degree. All the work was completed except writing the thesis. Material for the thesis seemed more valuable as a secret process than the degree, so it was never written. Audio Development Co. was founded in 1935. Work here and in the remainder of his career resulted in close to 40 patents. The major product was a uniform zero reference Audiometer which was the standard of the industry for more than 20 years.
