General Notes: Husband - John Everhard


His English education was limited, but he was a good German scholar. When twenty-three years of age he moved to Ellsworth township, Mahoning County, Ohio, and took charge of Gen. Elijah Wadsworth's dairy, located in Canfield township. In 1813 he bought 132 acres of land in Wadsworth township, Medina County. He married and soon after took up his residence on his new farm, where he lived, engaged in tilling the soil, until the day of his death. He was a faithful and consistent member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, and one of the organizers of the Zion's Church, of Doylestown, Wayne County, Ohio.

1. Mary Everhard, born June 20, 1816, at Wadsworth, Medina County, Ohio; died before 1891; married Jonas Kryder.
2. Catharine Everhard, born March 18, 1818, at Wadsworth, Medina County, Ohio; died before 1891; married David Kosslin.
3. Ann Everhard, born May 30, 1820, at Wadsworth, Medina County, Ohio; married Philip Shoop; resided at Wadsworth.
4. Elizabeth Everhard, born October 21, 1822, at Wadsworth, Medina County, Ohio; died before 1891; married Jonas Long.
5. Solomon Everhard, born June 22, 1825, at Wadsworth, Medina County, Ohio; married in 1852 to Catharine Ann Reusimer.
He attended the free school in his neighborhood until he was eighteen, and then attended McGregor's Academy until qualified to teach. After that he engaged in teaching and farming. He and his wife were the parents of fifteen children, six of whom died in infancy.
