General Notes: Husband - Joseph Alexander

Both he and his son James were original settlers on the "New Munster" tract, Cecil County, Maryland, prior to 1714.

Joseph Alexander's will was executed 13 December, 1726 and probated 9 March, 1730 in Cecil County, Maryland, (AA-1/222) indicating his death just prior to latter date. He describes himself as "of New Munster in Cecil County" and "tanner," in accordance with the prevailing custom of designating his vocation. He mentions a daughter Sophia and two married daughters, Jane Muley and Abigail Clapan, neither of whose spouses have been definitely identified. The first is more probably "Mackey", but examination of the original will and other records leaves these surnames still obscure. He also names a son Francis, and a son-in-law, Elias Alexander. As no mention is made of his wife, she evidently predeceased him. His principal estate is left to his son, James Alexander, who is also made executor.
