General Notes: Husband - David Downer Johnson

He received a common school education, assisted on his father's farm throughout his early manhood and succeeded, together with his brother and sister, to the ownership of his father's land and houses, which were subsequently divided between them. He continued to be engaged as an agriculturist, but also served four years as superintendent of the Cumberland road by appointment of Governor Beaver in 1886. He was elected to the office of county treasurer (Republican candidate) of Fayette County, in 1896. Mr. Johnson was one of the founders and was a member of the board of directors of the Uniontown Brewing Company. He was also a member of the Masonic fraternity.
