General Notes: Husband - David Dickson

He received his education in the schools at home, and at the age of twenty-one was employed by Hostetter & Smith, manufacturers of the Hostetter bitters. After remaining there four years he went as fireman on the Pan Handle R. R., with the expectation of becoming an engineer; about four months satisfied him of railroading, and returning to the island he purchased Rev. Hazlett's property, being a portion of his father's original farm. He had a stall in the market, where he shipped to hotels and country stores the produce of his own farm and that of his father's.
He and his wife were members of the Presbyterian Church; he was a member of the Jr. O. U. A. M. and the R. A. He was a republican, and was school director and supervisor of the township.
