General Notes: Husband - Philip D. Cutshall

He was born and reared on the family farm. In early life he attended the common schools, obtaining a good English education, and on the death of his father took charge of the home place. In 1874 he united with the Wesleyan Methodist church, and was an official member of quarterly conferences, a delegate to a number of annual conferences, and twice to the general conference of the denomination. He was a licensed preacher, and for three years served as pastor of Mount Pleasant church, near Meadville, besides preaching for other congregations in Venango and adjoining counties. He was a Republican until 1876, but after that year voted independently, and was identified with the Greenback party. He was an earnest advocate of temperance reform and took an active part in the amendment campaign of 1889.
