General Notes: Husband - Wylie Frank Crothers

He was born on the home place in Buffalo township, Washington County, Pennsylvania. He remained at home during his minority, and was educated at the schools of Taylorstown, where he was considered one of the best students. In February, 1889, he opened a general store in Taylorstown, and grew the business until he had the largest custom of any store in the town. His stock occupied a large building with two floors and a basement, also a large warehouse adjoining. He kept a complete assortment of all kinds of goods, and had the largest and best equipped store (outside of Washington) in western Washington County.
Politically he was an ardent Republican, and though not a politician gave all possible aid to the success of his party. He and his family were members of the United Presbyterian Church at Taylorstown, to which they were liberal contributors.
