General Notes: Husband - George Washington Magee

---

The Magee family is of ancient Scotch origin, long seated in Ireland, from where members came to the United States in the days of the American Revolution.

In 1812 he removed to what is now Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, and lived in that and Butler County for thirty-five years. He was a carpenter and wheel-wright, in which business he was engaged in Centreville, in Butler County. In 1841 he moved to Jackson Township, Mercer County, and purchased the land upon which was located the Fox Coal Mine. He developed the mine, and subsequently disposed of it and removed to Fairview Township, and engaged in farming.
