The Radebaughs emigrated from Germany to Pennsylvania, and located in Lancaster County. Of this family Samuel A. and Jacob came to Chambersburg, Franklin County. Jacob soon after moved to Bedford, Pennsylvania, Samuel remaining in Chambersburg, and all the Radebaughs who were citizens of Franklin County were descendants of his.

He was a merchant by occupation.
