General Notes: Husband - Capt. George A. Cribbs


He was born on the Cribbs homestead. When the Civil war broke out he was among the first to respond to President Lincoln's call for troops. He was commissioned captain of Co. I, Eleventh Pa. Vols., August 21, 1861, which was re-cruited at Greensburg and mustered into the ser-vice at Harrisburg, September 20, 1861. He participated in the battles of Cedar Mountain, August 9, 1862, Rappahannock Station, August 21, 1862, Thoroughfare Gap, August 21, 1862, and was mortally wounded at Second Bull Run, August 30, 1862. He died at Columbia College Hospital, Washington City.

He and his wife were the parents of eight children, two sons and six daughters.
