General Notes: Husband - Cyrus P. Cope

He attended the common schools and Mt. Pleasant college. Leaving college, he taught school for some time and then made an extended tour of the "West." Returning to Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, he was engaged in the stock business at Greensburg for about twenty years. He ran the Eagle Hotel, of Pittsburgh, for one year, and in 1868 opened the Grant House, of Greensburg, located on the corner of Pittsburg street and Pennsylvania avenue. His success was of such proportions that he was enabled to retire from active business and spend the latter years of his life at leisure.
He was a member of the Lutheran church, and a staunch Republican
in politics.
