General Notes: Husband - Goodman Y. Coulter

He was the third youngest son of eight children born to his parents, and the last survivor of the family.
He was born and reared on a farm, and educated at a log school. His first business venture was the management of his father's gristmill, which he successfully carried on for over twenty-five years, also in the meantime farming. He came to own three hundred acres of land, which, late in his life, was worked under his management. He was afflicted for some years with failing sight, and became nearly blind.
He was elected to the office of treasurer of Allegheny County by the republican party; served also as director of the county poor, and was director of a prominent bank in Pittsburgh. He was not a member of any religious denomination, but was always a liberal supporter of the Presbyterian Church. Politically he was a prohibitionist.
