General Notes: Husband - Joseph Cope

He inherited the family homestead, upon a part of which he continued to reside until his death, in the seventy-sixth year of his age. He visited England in 1820, partly on account of his health, and in 1839 returned there to procure improved stock of cattle and sheep, of which he was a most enthusiastic breeder for many years.
He was a great admirer of the standard English writers and poets, and seldom penned a letter without a familiar quotation from one of them.
