He was born in Clay township, Butler County, PA, and grew to manhood in his native township. He and his wife were members of the Presbyterian church, and spent their lives in Butler county, dying on the homestead in Cherry township.

This person is not listed as a child of Dunbar and Mary Christy in HBC 1895, 1282. A Samuel D. Christy is listed instead with a quite different history.
