General Notes: Husband - [Ancestor] Campbell

The Campbell family is distinctly Scotch. The earliest mention of the name is found in the Ragman's Roll, A. D. 1296, in the forms of Cambel and Kambel. The Camp-bell clan became the most numerous and power-ful in the Highlands of Scotland, and at one time could muster five thousand fighting men. Many of its members migrated to Ireland, and bore a large part in the settlement of the "Green Isle."
