A native of Ireland, he came to Brooklyn in early manhood, where he followed contracting and building, was married in that city and spent the remaining years of his life there. His widow later lived in Cleveland, Ohio. They were the parents of two children.

He and his wife were natives of Ireland. After their arrival in America they settled at Brooklyn, New York, where Mr. Burke became successful as a building contractor, and where he and his wife spent the remainder of their lives.
