General Notes: Husband - Christian Brake

His father came to America from Germany and settled in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, where he farmed and died.

He came to Franklin County, Pennsylvania, at a very early day. He settled where his grandson, John S. Brake, later resided, and bought 110 acres of land, the greater part of which he cleared. The Indians were at that time very numerous, and he experienced all the hardships of the pioneer, but after years of hard work he saved enough money to buy another farm (where Jacob Schlichter later resided) moved on it, and there remained until his death.

He married and they settled in Letterkenny Township, Franklin County, and were among the pioneers of the county; they reared a large family and died there at a good old age.
