General Notes: Husband - John Tallman

---

In 1863 he sold his farm in Unity township and removed with his family to a larger one, which he purchased in the southwest part of Fairfield township, where his family were brought up.

He received his education in the public schools of Unity township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. He assisted his father in the care of the farm and later inherited the estate. For a time he worked in saw mills. Until fifty years of age he lived on the homestead, using part of the land for the cultivation of tobacco. On leaving the homestead he bought a farm in Fairfield township, later the property of A. R. Renwick. In politics he was a Republican, and in matters of religion he was true to the traditions of his family, adhering to the Presbyterian communion. In the Fort Palmer church he served as elder, participating earnestly in the different departments of its work.
