Elvin C. Bowden
Elvin C. Bowden, 85, of the Old Butler Rd. died at 4:55 a.m. today in the Jameson Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born in Lobett County, Kansas, Mar 31, 1882, to the late Leonard W. and Mary Copper Bowden. He was a retired farmer. His wife, the former Elizabeth Lusher, died in 1955.
Mr. Bowden was a member of East Brook UP Church where he was a trustee. He was a member of East Brook Grange.
Surviving are two sons, Willard M. of Cleveland and Clarence L. of State Rd.; a daughter, Mrs. Norman (Alice) Cotton of the Harlansburg Rd.; a sister, Mrs. Ettie Hobel of New Castle; and eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers, Ralph and Charles; and three sisters, Mrs. Nannie Newton, Mrs. Mary Brown and Annie Bowden.
Friends will be received at the Robert A. Myers Home for Funerals, 208 N. Jefferson St., from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow.
The service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home by Rev. Robert Downs of East Brook UP Church.
Interment will be in East Brook UP Church Cemetery.

Her tombstone gives her date of birth as Apr 11, 1879. The date of Sept 11, 1880 is given on her marriage license and in the obituary as is the record of previous family historians.

Mrs. Elvin C. Bowden
Mrs. Elizabeth M. Lusher Bowden, 74, 1521 Butler Ave. Ext., died at her residence today at 10 a. m. following an illness of a week.
She was born in Sandy Lake, Pa. on September 11, 1880 to David I. and Margaret Forbus Lusher and has resided in this city for 34 years, coming here from Ellwood City. She was a member of the Eastbrook U. P. church and the Ladies Missionary society.
Surviving are her husband, Elvin C., one daughter, Mrs. Alice M. Cotton, this city; two sons: Willard M. Bowden, Cleveland and Clarence L. Bowden, this city; two sisters: Mrs. Mae Sumner and Mrs. Bertha Householder, both of Ellwood City; one brother, James R. Lusher, Ellwood City and eight grandchildren. Two brothers, Charles and George, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock from the Ray Cunningham Funeral Home, 454 Chestnut St., with Rev. Earl Hughes in charge. Interment will follow in the Eastbrook U. P. cemetery.
Friends may call at the Cunningham Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p. m.
