General Notes: Husband - Frederick Mathay


He made the voyage from Germany to America in a sailing vessel, landing in New York City in 1848, and locating in Ulster county, NY, he was engaged in the butchering business there until coming to Greenville, Mercer County, PA, in 1854. Resuming his former trade of butchering, he was thus identified with the business life of this city until his retirement in 1900. He was a member of the Lutheran church and a supporter of Democratic principles.
