General Notes: Husband - Daniel H. Mathay

His entire life was spent within the borders of Mercer County, PA. Receiving a good education in the public schools of Greenville he at the age of seventeen entered upon his business career as a clerk, and when he had attained the age of twenty-three he embarked in the butcher business in Greenville and remained in that line of trade until 1894. In that year he organized the Greenville Coal and Ice business, but four years afterward he sold his interest in that enterprise, although he remained with the company as the manager of its business until 1906. Following this he was interested in a cold storage plant and in farming, owning one of the finest homesteads in the community, and there he was extensively engaged in the raising of fine Percheron horses, Chester White hogs, full blood Durham cattle and Plymouth and Wyandotte chickens.
