He moved to Pennsylvania [from Massachusetts?] and lived successively at Shippensville, Clarion County; Plumer, Venango County; and Oil City, following merchandising at all of those points. He had a general store at Plumer and a dry goods store at Oil City, and retired a few years before his death, which occurred when he was about seventy years old.
