General Notes: Husband - Squire William Black

When about nine years of age, he first attended school, which was taught by David C. Cunningham, in the old Unity Church. After availing himself still further of such limited educational advantages as the schools of that day afforded, he attained to manhood's years. He was a consistent and prominent member of Unity United Presbyterian Church. Until 1861, he was a Democrat, and supported John C. Breckenridge for the Presidency; but at the commencement of the war of the rebellion he identified himself with the Republican party. He has been three times elected as a Republican Justice of the Peace in a Democratic stronghold. [HBC 1883, 436]

General Notes: Wife - Margaret M. Cross

Her parents were among the most prominent of the early settlers of Slippery Rock Township, Butler Co, PA.
