General Notes: Husband - John R. Black

On October 1, 1862, he enlisted in the 109th P. V. I., and when his term of service had expired he was honorably discharged, in 1863. He was mostly engaged in guard duty at Fort Keys and Yorktown. The Republican party always found in him a stanch supporter, and he was called upon to serve in a number of township offices.
