General Notes: Husband - William Huston

He was born in Ireland, and was about five years old when brought by his parents to the United States. After sojourning briefly in Chester and Indiana counties of Pennsylvania, the family settled in Fairfield township, Westmoreland County, and it was there that he grew to manhood. His youth and early manhood were spent in assisting his father on the farm, but at the age of thirty years he engaged in farming on his own account, at the same time opening a general store at Fairfield. This store he continued to conduct until 1842. After a period of turnpike contracting in West Virginia, he purchased a farm in St. Clair township, Westmoreland County, and was living there when elected sheriff of the county, an office in which he served from 1859 to 1862. After the expiration of his term he engaged in the hotel business at Latrobe, Johnstown and Pittsburgh, later removing to Ligonier, where the remainder of his life was passed.
