He became associated with a dry-goods firm of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He afterward went to California, where he engaged in the mercantile and real estate business on his own account, and in which he was successful. He contracted a fever, and while convalescing started for Philadelphia, but died en route, and was buried at sea.
