His education was commenced in the public schools, and completed at Smith's Business College, in Meadville, Pennsylvania, and Reese's School of Engraving, at Elmira, New York. He followed engraving in its various branches, in different sections of the country, finally returning to his father's farm, where he took charge of a dairy business.
