General Notes: Husband - James Stinson, Jr.

He was apprenticed while a lad in his teens to learn the trade of a saddle and harness maker, but did not serve out his term. Returning home, instead, he assisted in the management of the home farm for a number of years. Moving then to Greenville, Pennsylvania, he bought a grist mill, which his sons operated, and was there a resident until his death, at the age of seventy-two years. He was a man of honest integrity, deeply religious, and served as an elder in the Presbyterian Church. [HMC 1909, 896]

In 1867 he removed to Greenville, and purchased an interest in the Keystone Mills. He was also interested in the Mathers Mill. Some four years prior to his death he retired from active business. Both he and his wife were Presbyterians for over half a century. Politically he was ever a stanch Republican, and an ardent supporter of the Government throughout the dark days of civil strife.
