General Notes: Husband - Caleb Smith

He was connected with railroad work during his entire mature life, beginning when but seventeen years of age with the Pittsburgh & Erie Railroad, where he was promoted to the position of conductor before reaching the age of nineteen. He later went to the West and there secured a position as engineer with the Mexican National Railroad, remaining there until his death. He had charge of a train running between San Louis Potosi and Mexico City, and was at the former place when he met his death. This occurred on as the result of the accidental discharge of his own pistol, which he dropped.
