General Notes: Husband - Samuel Strite


He removed to Washington County, Maryland, in 1859. He was elected a county commissioner of Washington County in 1871. It was during his term that the Hagerstown Court House was built. He subsequently served four years as one of the Judges of the Orphans' Court, and was for fifteen years one of the five school commissioners of Washington County. He was for some years a justice of the peace and also served as director of the poor of Washington County. He was a Republican and active in party work. He was affiliated with the Mennonite Church.
