General Notes: Husband - Jacob Aaron Strite


He was prepared for college in the public schools of Leitersburg, Maryland. He entered Dickinson College at the age of seventeen, and was graduated in 1884. Later he took a post-graduate course at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore. He subsequently engaged in teaching in the schools at Leitersburg, and then studied law with the Hon. Louis E. McComas, at Hagerstown. He was admitted to the Washington County, Maryland, Bar in August, 1886, and to the Franklin County, Pennsylvania, Bar in September, 1888. He began active practice in Chambersburg. In 1896 he succeeded the Hon. John Stewart as president of the Chambersburg & Bedford Turnpike Road Company. He was one of the organizers, and a director, of the Chambersburg Trust Company; he was also a director of The Wolf Company. Fraternally he belonged to George Washington Lodge, No. 143, F. & A. M. and also to George Washington Chapter; he was also a member of Columbus Lodge and Olive Encampment I. O. O. F., of the Knights of the Golden Eagle, the Royal Arcanum, the B. P. O. E., the Heptasophs and the I. O. R. He was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church, Chambersburg.
