General Notes: Husband - John Irwin Scull

He was educated at Princeton, read law, and afterwards returned to Pittsburgh and was admitted to the bar. At a very early age he gave up the pursuit of the law, and August 1, 1816, with Morgan Neville, assumed the editorship of the Pittsburg Gazette, his father then retiring from active partici-pation in the management. The Scull connection with the paper terminated in 1818, when Mr. Scull retired to the estate of his maternal grandfather, Colonel John Irwin, at "Brush Hill" farm, near Irwin, to manage the property.
