General Notes: Husband - Samuel Stewart

One source states that he was the son of Robert Stewart and Margaret Christy, but dates given for various members of both families make this impossible.

He probably accompanied his parents to Butler County, Pennsylvania, as records show that he built a cabin on the west side of Portersville and lived on the farm later owned by the Cheesman family. In 1803 he moved to Connoquenessing Township, purchasing a farm in the woods.

He was one of the early settlers of Lancaster township, Butler County, Pennsylvania. He served in the War of 1812, and was a well known hunter of pioneer days. His wife was one of those courageous, resolute women, fitted by nature to bear the hardships and overcome the obstacles of a new country. They were members of the Presbyterian church.

The source states that he and his wife had twelve children: six sons and six daughters - and then lists seven sons and five daughters.
