General Notes: Husband - James Schoonmaker


The Schoonmaker family is of New York "Knickerbocker" stock, his paternal ancestors subsequent to 1660 having been born in Ulster and Orange Counties, New York. Hendrick Jochem, one of his paternal ancestors, came to America from Holland in 1660 and settled in Ulster County.

He removed from Ulster County, New York, to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1836, at the age of twenty-three years, and embarked in the drug business.

He and his wife had nine children: five sons and four daughters.
