General Notes: Husband - John E. Sankey

He spent his boyhood days under the parental roof, and learned the carder's and fuller's trade in a woolen mill. Soon after completing his trade he went into farming, and followed that occupation a large portion of his life. For over twenty years he devoted his attention to the sale of agricultural implements, and was well known in every portion of Mercer County.
In February, 1865, Mr. Sankey removed from Lawrence County to a farm in Sugar Grove Township, Mercer County, upon which his son William later lived, and in 1874 he removed to Greenville, where he then resided. He was a Democrat in politics, and the family attend the Methodist Episcopal Church. He filled the office of justice of the peace in Sugar Grove Township one term. He was a member of the I. O. O. F., and the A. O. U. W.
