General Notes: Husband - Brewer Scott

He was educated in the public schools of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and early in life developed a taste for engineering, which he learned in Allegheny. He was subsequently connected for seven years with the old rolling mill of Allegheny, and for five years was employed in the Fahnestock mill. He then became chief engineer in the iron mill of Graft, Bennet & Company, which position he held for thirty-five years. In 1853 he settled in Millvale, thus becoming identified with the early history of the place, and also with its government, in which he served as burgess, councilman and school director. From 1890 to 1896 he held the appointment of postmaster of Millvale, resigning in the latter year in consequence of failing health. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church.
