He settled on a farm in Cross Creek township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, where he passed his life in agricultural pursuits. He paid much attention to stock raising, making a specialty of blooded stock. He was first a Whig, and on the organization of the party, be-came a Republican. In religion he was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Cross Creek.

He was reared on the pioneer farm, partaking of the privations of early frontiersmen and receiving his education at the subscription schools. In early manhood he married and settled on a farm in Cross Creek township, Washington County, where he passed his life in agricultural pursuits. He paid much attention to stock raising, making a specialty of sheep. [CBRWC, 1410]
