General Notes: Husband - Thomas Murphy

He was born in Ireland and came to America in 1845. For a while he lived in Ohio, and there worked on the state road. Afterward he was in the employment of the Pennsylvania Railroad Company, as boss of a track-laying gang, working in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Having followed this work until 1884, he then came into Toby township, Clarion County, and lived on a farm of one hundred and seven acres, which he had owned since 1872. His son, Laurence William Murphy, later lived on this farm. He put up the buildings, and practiced general farming. He was a Democrat. In religion both he and his wife were Catholics.
