General Notes: Husband - Jacob Rowland

He moved to Lawrence County, Pennsylvania (then Mercer), in 1829, and assisted his father to open a farm in the dense forest. He afterward established a home for himself on the adjoining tract. He was an industrious, public-spirited citizen, and during the war was one of the county commissioners who saved a large sum of money to his constituents by refusing to levy a tax and pay interest on what they considered fraudulent railroad bonds.
